Our model Soho is a heir of the kitbag. This bag was conceived (designed) to transport articles of hygiene and comfort as well as personal effects. This particularly elaborated version was created by the nurses of The Canadian Red Cross during the World War I ( 1914-1918 ).
It testifies of the invaluable role the women played in the work of Canadian Red Cross in wartime.
When sick or wounded servicemen were hospitalized abroad, or when sailors of the merchant navy managed to gain(win) the ports(bearings) of the Atlantic Ocean having been torpedoed, they were often deprived of their personal effects, having lost everything on the battlefield or at sea. On the other hand, the uniforms of the soldiers were sometimes cut to nurse their injuries, which divested them of a medium to deposit their belongings.
